Computers & Structures

Founded in 1975 by company President Ashraf Habibullah, CSI is recognized worldwide as an innovative leader in the development of software tools for the analysis and design of civil structures. CSI products are licensed to thousands of structural engineering firms throughout the USA and in more than 100 other countries.

The development of CSI software spans three decades, starting with the research of Dr. Edward L. Wilson at the University of California at Berkeley. The revolutionary SAP program was first released in 1970, and Dr. Wilson has subsequently been recognized by national and international engineering societies as one of the preeminent researchers in the field of computer aided structural analysis.

Each of CSI's programs is tailored to specific classes of structures, allowing the engineering community to work at more productive and efficient levels than are possible with "general purpose" type programs. SAP2000 is intended for use on civil structures such as bridges, dams, stadiums, industrial structures and buildings. ETABS has been developed specifically for multi-story building structures, such as office buildings, apartments and hospitals. The SAFE System provides an efficient and powerful program for the analysis and design of concrete slabs and foundations.

Not only is CSI known for analytically sophisticated software, but for unsurpassed product support as well. User support activities include advice on structural systems, interpretation of structural behaviour, clarification on various aspects of building codes, and opinions on special modeling problems and other subjects related to computerized structural analysis and design.

SAP2000 - Integrated Software for Structural Analysis & Design

The SAP name has been synonymous with state-of-the-art analytical methods since its introduction over 30 years ago. SAP2000 follows in the same tradition featuring a very sophisticated, intuitive and versatile user interface powered by an unmatched analysis engine and design tools for engineers working on transportation, industrial, public works, sports, and other facilities.

From its 3D object based graphical modeling environment to the wide variety of analysis and design options completely integrated across one powerful user interface, SAP2000 has proven to be the most integrated, productive and practical general purpose structural program on the market today.

This intuitive interface allows you to create structural models rapidly and intuitively without long learning curve delays. Now you can harness the power of SAP2000 for all of your analysis and design tasks, including small day-to-day problems. Complex Models can be generated and meshed with powerful Templates built into the interface.

The Advanced Analytical Techniques allow for Step-by-Step Large Deformation Analysis, Multiple P-Delta, Eigen and Ritz Analyses, Cable Analysis, Tension or Compression Only Analysis, Buckling Analysis, Blast Analysis, Fast Nonlinear Analysis for Dampers, Base Isolators and Support Plasticity, Energy Methods for Drift Control and Segmental Construction Analysis.

Bridge Designers can use SAP2000 Bridge Templates for generating Bridge Models, Automated Bridge Live Load Analysis and Design, Bridge Base Isolation, Bridge Construction Sequence Analysis, Large Deformation Cable Supported Bridge Analysis and Pushover Analysis.

SAP2000 is for everyone! SAP2000 is for every project! From a simple small 2D static frame analysis to a large complex 3D nonlinear dynamic analysis, SAP2000 is the answer to all structural analysis and design needs.

ETABS - Integrated Analysis, Design & Drafting of Building Systems

For nearly 30 years, ETABS has been recognized as the industry standard for Building Analysis and Design Software. Today, continuing in the same tradition, ETABS has evolved into a completely Integrated Building Analysis and Design Environment. The System built around a physical object based graphical user interface, powered by targeted new special purpose algorithms for analysis and design, with interfaces for drafting and manufacturing, is redefining standards of integration, productivity and technical innovation.

The integrated model can include Moment Resisting Frames, Braced Frames, Staggered Truss Systems, Frames with Reduced Beam Sections or Side Plates, Rigid and Flexible Floors, Sloped Roofs, Ramps and Parking Structures, Mezzanine Floors, Multiple Tower Buildings and Stepped Diaphragm Systems with Complex Concrete, Composite or Steel Joist Floor Framing Systems. Solutions to complex problems such as Panel Zone Deformations, Diaphragm Shear Stresses, and Construction Sequence Loading are now at your fingertips.

ETABS is the solution, whether you are designing a simple 2D frame or performing a dynamic analysis of a complex high-rise that utilizes non-linear dampers for inter-story drift control.

SAFE - Integrated Design of Flat Slabs, Foundation Mats & Spread Footings

SAFE is a special purpose program that automates the analysis and design of simple to complex concrete flat plates and foundation systems using powerful object based modeling. The program can analyze and design slabs or mats of arbitrary shapes and varying thickness, drop panels, openings, edge beams and discontinuities. Foundations can be combinations of Mats, Strip Footings or Isolated Spread Footings.

The analysis is based upon the Finite Element Method in a theoretically consistent fashion that properly accounts for the effects of twisting moments. Meshing is Automated based upon User Specified Parameters. Foundations are modeled as thick plates on Elastic Foundations, where the Compression Only Soil Springs are automatically discretized based upon a modulus of sub grade reaction that is specified for each Foundation Object.

The software produces reinforcing layouts and evaluates the effects of punching shear around column supports. Options are available for including cracked properties in the finite element model based upon the slab reinforcing that is provided.

Also a comprehensive export option from ETABS is available that will automatically create complete SAFE models of any ETABS floor or foundation for immediate design by SAFE.

CSiDetailer - Detailing Reinforced Concrete Structures

CSiDetailer is a new completely integrated software package for automatically producing drawings of reinforcing details for slabs that have been analyzed and designed using SAFE, The Slab Analysis and Design Software based upon the Finite element Method!

CSiCOL - Integrated Design of Flat Slabs, Foundation Mats & Spread Footings

CSiCOL is a comprehensive software package used for the analysis and design of columns. The design of columns of any concrete, reinforced concrete, or composite cross-section can be carried out by the program. CSiCOL provides a 'Quick Design Wizard' tool that guides the users step-by-step,  through the whole process of column design. This makes the design process simple, organized and efficient.
