Plaxis Geotechnical FEM Systems PLAXIS is a series of finite element package specifically intended for the analysis of geotechnical engineering projects:
Plaxis v8 is a finite element package intended for the two dimensional analysis of deformation and stability in geotechnical engineering. Geotechnical applications require advanced constitutive models for the simulation of the non linear, time dependent and anisotropic behavior of soils and/or rock. In addition, since soil is a multi phase material, special procedures are required to deal with hydrostatic and non hydrostatic pore pressures in the soil. Although the modeling of the soil itself is an important issue, many projects involve the modeling of structures and the interaction between the structures and the soil. Plaxis Dynamics is an add-on for Plaxis v8. Soil and structures are often subjected not only to static loads due to constructions in and on the ground surface but also to dynamic loads. If the loads are powerful, as in earthquakes, they may cause severe damages. Plaxis Dynamics analyses module you can analyze the effects of vibrations in the soil. Even though vibrations often have 3D-characteristics, in Plaxis version 8, the dynamic model is limited to plain strain and axisymmetric conditions. PlaxFlow is a finite element package intended for the two-dimensional and steady-state analyses of saturated and unsaturated groundwater flow problems in geotechnical engineering and hydrology. Groundwater flow applications require advanced models for the simulation of the unsaturated, time-dependent and anisotropic behaviour of soils. Plaxis 3D Tunnel is a geotechnical finite element package which is specifically intended for the three-dimensional analysis of deformation and stability in tunnel projects. For more info on Plaxis 3D Tunnel, please visit http://www.plaxis.com/index.php?cat=productinfo&mouse=3D%20Tunnel.
Plaxis 3D Foundation Plaxis 3D Foundation is a finite element package intended for the three-dimensional deformation analysis of foundation structures. Foundations form the interaction between an upper structure and the soil. Settlements depend on local soil conditions and on the construction method. Especially for pile-raft foundations there is an important interplay between the pile, the raft and the soil to support the forces from the upper structure. In this interplay deformations are a key factor. Such a situation can only be analyzed effectively by means of three-dimensional finite element calculations in which proper models are incorporated to simulate soil behavior and soil-structure interaction.
